"The student as always is a really eager learner. We went over some practice AP Calc AB questions, and we looked into actually solving first order linear differential equations. He picked it all up with relative ease and he seemed to enjoy it as well!"
"We went through the textbook example problems on magnetostatics and induction. He wrote down all of the equations ahead of time, and had a few questions about some of them that we cleared up. We worked on using the right-hand rule and memorizing the magnetic field surrounding a closed loop to save time. He still didn't seem 100% clear on how to determine current direction from change in flux, but I wrote out the steps for him to look at before his test."
"Today we covered circuits. Specifically we made tables for each resistor in the circuit, including its resistance, current, power, and voltage. We used Ohm's law and the formula for power. We treated circuits just like water through a pipe. Parallel circuits had the same voltage while resistors in series had the same current. I would stress that he be able to apply these two concepts. Student initially struggled with total resistance, but eventually understood it after a few explanations. We learned to keep redrawing the circuits with equivalent resistances and breaking down the whole circuit into smaller pieces. I did not leave any extra practice because student understood the material overall and teacher gave lots of practice. Student was eager to learn the material. Overall, student dramatically improved in understanding circuits."
"The student's class is covering material very quickly, so we reviewed several new applications (arc length, normal and tangent vectors and their uses). The biggest thing is learning how to reason with vectors, and the new terminology and definitions, which we will work on when we meet again."
"This morning, the student and I covered DC circuits analysis involving capacitors and resistors in preparation for today's physics test. He seemed well prepared for the material and has a strong grasp of the fundamentals. I am confident he will do well on today's test."
"This session the student and I went over interference. We did practice problems focusing on setting up the initial and final condition, and finding appropriate substitution formulas. We also talked about rewriting class notes into a study guide each week."
