Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We review chemistry and geometry. We focused on significant figures. I helped the student finish his homework."
"Student had a chemistry test the following day so we did practice problems to study. Topics included scientific notation, significant figures, converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and dimensional analysis. He had not done dimensional analysis in class so the bulk of the session was on how to set up dimensional analysis problems."
"Went over the student's chemistry homework packet on atomic models of matter and periodic table. Briefly looked at his algebra quiz where he mostly missed points on simple mistakes."
"We went over practice questions about calorimetry in preparation for a quiz. We worked on finding the specific heat, mass, starting temperature, ending temperature, change in temperature, and amount of energy needed."
"We went over the first lab of the year, dealing with calorimetry, specifically the heat lost from warm water to melting ice. After that, we completed a few homework problems that dealt with basic thermodynamics moving into more advanced ideas such as solubility and how it changes based on environment."
"We went over the ideal gas law and the combined gas law, and we worked through practice problems together. She struggled to understand the laws that went into creating the ideal gas law, but after a few concept questions I think she grasped it. I also gave her a step-by-step strategy on how to solve stoichiometry questions, and we went over how to set up an ideal gas question: which words mean what and how to set up your variables before solving and how to use units to double check that you got the right answer. Overall, another good session."
