"The student was working on problems of Lenz's law and electromagnetic induction. We worked with 3D quasi-models to improve his understanding of how Lenz's law relates changes in flux through a loop to the direction of the current induced in the loop. I think he was starting to get a better handle on that toward the end of the time. As usual, his proficiency with the math is good. He just needs some more practice using Lenz's law and determining change in flux in various geometries and physics situations."
"Session done via Skype due to conflicting schedules. Reviewed variable equations specifically solving for variables in equations. Went over material that related to solving variables."
"The student and I spent most of our session this week going over her ELA assignments. She said she's been having some challenges moving through the assignments in the time allotted in class. We discussed some strategies to work a bit more quickly while still making sure to be accurate and thorough."
"The student did a great job spelling the "wh" words today. She also wrote a story using most of these words. We discussed differences between homonyms, like between "which" and "witch," and between "whine" and "wine." We read Chapter 9 of her assigned reading. We focused on reading and understanding more difficult words like "absolutely," "mirage," "pyramid," "winding," etc. We also discussed the story while and after having read it, thinking about the reasons behind and consequences of the characters' actions. Finally, we looked over her reading comprehension folder and discussed what sequence means."
"Today the student and I went over all other material that will be on her exam tomorrow. We discussed every statistical test covered this term and when you use each type. I gave her example scenarios and she was able to provide the appropriate statistical test. We also reviewed the articles for the exam and structural equation modeling. She will continue studying on her own and contact me with any additional questions."
"We covered differential equations and completed all the questions that we could find on this topic. The student struggled at first with applying some of the logarithmic rules of the function. The student made a lot of progress with this type of problem. She seemed very optimistic about these problems and said that she would practice more problems."
"Today, we continued where we left off yesterday and finished the student's homework assignment. It quickly became apparent that he did not understand the last process we covered, which was finding a matrix for a given linear transformation. So, we went over that a couple different ways, and after working through some examples, he did understand the process."
"We focused on personality. The student primarily struggled with integrating all of the different personality theories. For next time, the student will work on catching up in her notes and studying those concepts."
"After helping the student with a homework assignment, we began working forward in his book. He let me know his teacher was likely to begin on the next chapter so we previewed that material before I worked with him on certain math tricks to help him with his assignments and math in general. We worked on percentages and decimals."
"I worked with the student today covering reading and writing. We started off completing punctuation in a story he wrote last week. He also wrote me some sentences using other punctuation marks. We started talking about adjectives and uses in a sentence. He then read two (2) books. He is a wonderful student and is anxious to complete all work."
"I worked with the student on the practice set I brought that went over perimeter, area, and volume. We went over dimensions (2D vs 3D) and that you multiply the units together. She seemed to understand well and completed the rest of the problems quite easily."
"I reviewed the concepts learned yesterday with the student. We practiced a new song about elephants and numbers and we read a book about "My World". The student was provided with new vocabulary to learn at home and the two songs to practice until Friday. Numbers, colors, vocabulary from the book was studied today. Student has a great memory and seems to enjoy learning. He loved reading."
