Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to review and prep for his upcoming final exam. We addressed that more attention needs to be paid to details and he can try to slow down to think things through rather than charging right into the problem."
"We spent our day working on the mean value theorem and how to use derivatives, both first and second, to get information about the behavior or a function. The student really had no problems with the calculation; he just needed some concepts explained to him. He can factor, and do algebra, and didn't fall prey to the usual traps of this type of math like forgetting to add the plus/ minus after taking a square root. I think we will do just fine in the future."
"Today the student worked on her math homework, online math practice, and French. She is struggling a bit with decimal places, but is beginning to understand the concept. With a little practice she should be very confident."
"I went over the simple interest equation with the student. Afterwards I had her do a worksheet with tax and discount problems."
"Prior to the session, I composed a sheet of practice problems based on the homework due today and focused on what the student needed a bit more practice on. He worked through the problems with ease and is making great progress with comprehension of the material. I emphasized the importance of showing all of his steps on paper rather than doing it mentally (his mental math skills are quite impressive!) so as to keep track of his work as well as to potentially earn extra credit on exams. This evening, we went over triangles (equilateral and 30/60/90) and lines. The main focus on lines for the night was finding midpoints and distance. The student is a very quick learner and is not afraid to ask for help and extra practice when he is not entirely sure of a topic, which is fantastic!"
"We went over Chemistry on Monday because the student had a test. On Thursday, we did synthetic division. I already went over it with her so she had a good understanding and she had done most of the homework before I came."
