Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began with review of general chemistry topics including electronegativity, structural rules such as Hund's rule, and formal charges. We started Orgo topics including Lewis and line bond structures and resonance. I gave her resonance problems to work on for our next session."
"We discussed organic nomenclature, heat transfer and thermodynamics, solubility, acid base titration, and stoichiometry (based on Ksp). The student is quite good in nomenclature, and is getting better in stoichiometry. The acid base titration will require one discussion next session. I am going to send problems (made specifically structured for the student) and quizzes for extensive practice to her. I feel quite confident about her."
"The student has an exam tomorrow. We reviewed previous material, mostly through the student explaining terminology and mechanisms to me. We also discussed nucleotides, DNA, and RNA, along with their structures and functions. We ended the session discussing different mnemonics to memorize amino acids."
"Today the student and I reviewed Chapter 16 topics on benzenes, mainly focusing on benzene reactivity according to electron donating and electron withdrawing groups. We went over a lot of the homework questions she did and had questions on. Today was more just reviewing specifics in preparation for her upcoming quiz. Next session, we will be going over new material."
"We covered two main topics, NMRs and aromatic compound reactions. The student had some initial trouble with the mechanisms, but she asked the right questions, making it easier for her to understand the material. With more practice, she will get more comfortable with them."
"The student and I reviewed for his assessment the following day. We mainly focused on analysis of spectroscopy results along with basic stoichiometric analysis of reagents and products. Overall, he had a good grasp of the concept, and just needs a little bit more practice and further examination."
