Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student on her homework assignment that covered electron configuration and orbitals. I briefly covered the rest of the material in the chapter and then spent some time discussing ways to make her resume ideal for college applications."
"We studied Acid and Base essentials, Acid base calculations for strong A/B and weak, Acid/Base calculations at equilibrium."
"We reviewed Chapter 3-4 test and trouble areas in that test. Worked on converting percent mass to empirical formulas and naming conventions in preparation for the student's first exam next week."
"The student and I worked on his Chemistry preparation for the final. I taught him some material he did not have before, such as isotope chemistry, electron configuration, isomers and electrochemistry. Once he sees the explanation, he usually catches on quickly, so the summaries we made should do him well in his test prep."
"Today the student and I covered the Ideal Gas Law, and its applications and implications. We then worked through an old exam. The student did well on the first few questions. He takes his test on Thursday, so I recommend that he spend the next few days practicing as much as possible. He knows the concepts, but he needs to practice applying them. The combination of his positive attitude and lots of practice should pay off when he takes his exam."
"We talked a little bit about how the student's qualitative analysis is going, including what some of the more confusing chemical tests in her book actually entailed. We then continued working on her final review sheet, focusing mainly on gas laws, solubility, and molarity. She initially didn't remember how to do the majority of the problems that were on the sheet, but they came back to her quickly as we were completing them together, which is a very good sign, because it means that she hasn't completely forgotten the material, she just needed a refresher."
