Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through the online problems for chapters 24 and 25. The student had read the chapters and had gone through these questions once, so we had a more productive session. She still seems to be shaky on some of the material, so we need to do more problems, practice more."
" We spent most of today talking about taxes today, including excise taxes and lump sum taxes. We worked through supply-demand diagrams to calculate dead weight loss, figure out who bears the tax burden, and see how elasticity affects dead weight loss. We talked about fairness vs. efficiency in taxes (progressive, regressive, and proportional taxes, as well as lump sum taxes). We spent some time at the end working through a problem on elasticity, using the midpoint method. She had a great attitude towards the problems. She got the material fairly well once we went through practice problem or two. She worked a little with some of the calculations, and will be doing a few practice problems. I would suggest working through a couple of marginal tax rate problems and elasticity problems."
"Today we covered GDP, AD, AS, and Monetary and Fiscal Policy. We then worked on macroeconomic indicators and graphical analysis. The student's attitude was positive today. He is learning to critically connect the logical flow of macroeconomic indicators to study a data or a graph, and present his analysis after carefully understanding the practical application of the conceptual linkage. Currently, he is going through a bunch of individual assignments and wants to do some reviewing. He is grasping the conceptual linkage for analytical review which is crucial and is doing great!"
