Calculus Tutoring review by Colin in Gilbert, AZ
Today, I met with the student to work on physics and calculus. He has a physics test coming up next week and had a few last minute questions on current, magnetic field, and the left hand rule. We talked about how we can use the left hand rule to figure out which direction the current, magnetic field, and force vectors need to be pointing. After that, we looked at some calculus questions he had, including binomial expansions arithmetic and geometric series. Since he had a formula sheet for the series questions, he didn't find those to be too difficult. He is improving with the binomial expansions as well, and needed little guidance from me.

The student is continuing his work on integrals. We worked through a problem set describing the definite integral and the integral between two curve. He seems to be doing well with integrating polynomial functions, but we are working on remembering that 1/x integrates to ln x. I'm learning that he learns best through lots of repetitive practice to master skills.

Calculus Tutoring review by Antonio in Gilbert, AZ
We discussed the notion of the definite integral compared with indefinite integral, and I showed him how the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (part 1) works. Had a nice "Math is Cool" moment. From there, we worked on problems involving Riemann sums, where I showed how to lay them out clearly and discussed problems that could be solved by knowing the areas of prescribed shapes.

Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Gilbert, AZ
The student and I went over definite integrals and the fundamental theorem of calculus. I was impressed by how quickly the student was able to pick up the topics and use them to complete problems. By the end of the session he was easily doing the problems from the book.
