Calculus Tutoring review by Benjamin in Duluth, GA
During this session, we covered optimization calculus. This was basically an applied version of last week's session on max/min calculus. The student did not show me any scores/grades to note progress. He did mention though, that he is understanding the process more. He does not struggle with much. His algebra is getting better and he has a good grasp on the optimization calculus. He left with some extra problems to do before the next session. I do not have any major concerns, and I feel confident he understands the math well.

Calculus Tutoring review by Matthew in Duluth, GA
We covered finding the volume of a shape revolved around an axis, using integration methods. The biggest challenge was orienting the drawing to decide what the radius at any given point was, but throughout the problems we worked on, she was clearly getting more confident in the work. She has decided to push back next week's meeting (3/25) to the following week, since she feels good about the current material and next week she wants to spend the time studying.

Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Duluth, GA
We did a midterm review of differentiation and its applications. There was a study guide given to her by her instructor that we discussed. Primarily, we discussed the new material and how formulas she had learned from middle school on could be used in related rates problems. She made a study sheet to study to use when she is not with me.

During this session, I went over related rate problems with the student. She was given a worksheet by her instructor in school, and I used it as a guide in explaining to her. She worked on some of the problems by herself. Overall, it was a good session, and she understood the material as expected.

Calculus Tutoring review by Tanner in Duluth, GA
Today we covered implicit differentiation, finding the extrema and maximum/minimum values by calculating for the double prime. Finally we applied both of these concepts to real examples through word problems.

Calculus Tutoring review by Matjaz in Duluth, GA
We covered in more depth all subjects from yesterday. We did about 8-10 exercises on canonical quadratic forms of conical section functions. We considered degenerate cases where a parabola turns into a line, or where a hyperbola turns into two intersecting lines. We also did exercises with polar coordinates and transformation of polar coordinate functions into rectangular/Cartesian coordinate functions. The student is quite confident that he can perform on the upcoming individual exam on coming Thursday as well as tomorrow on a group test. His attitude is positive and confident. Strategies included today included calculating the rotation angle theta first, as well as calculating the Discriminant so to determine the type of a conical section. We also did numerous exercises including parametrically defined functions, how to turn parametrically defined functions into regular x/y functions. One of the examples was a parametric representation of a baseball ball flying to the air and condition for home run.
