Andrew: Lawrence tutor

Certified Tutor

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History from Temple University and a Master of Education in Social and Comparative Analysis in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Over the past decade, I've worked extensively with students in both formal and informal educational settingsfrom leading academic enrichment programs to facilitating one-on-one tutoring and mentoring sessions.

My passion for supporting students stems from the belief that education should be empowering, relevant, and accessible to every learner. I've had the privilege of guiding students from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them develop confidence in their abilities, explore new interests, and achieve their academic goals.

I tutor a variety of subjects including English, reading comprehension, writing, history, social studies, and study skills. While I enjoy working across multiple disciplines, I am particularly drawn to tutoring writing and history. These subjects allow students to develop their voice, connect past events to present realities, and think critically about the world around them.

My teaching philosophy centers on relationship-building and culturally responsive instruction. I approach each session with empathy, patience, and adaptability, working to meet students where they are and helping them grow through encouragement and personalized support. I also integrate strategies that build long-term academic habits and problem-solving skills.
