I have always enjoyed helping students foster their imagination. As a language arts teacher, I found it incredibly rewarding to watch students' ideas evolvefrom simple bullet points on a page to fully developed, four-page fictional stories. Witnessing this creative process unfold is truly a wonderful experience and one of the reasons I am passionate about supporting students.
I began teaching over 20 years ago at a Catholic school, where I spent nine years teaching middle school language arts, and an additional five years teaching PreK-8 technology. After my son was born, I chose to focus more time on family, but I remained active in education by working part-time as a preschool substitute and running summer camps. Following the to the Covid-19 pandemic, I served as a Learning Loss Interventionist in a 7-8 building, helping students struggling with math due math. Most recently, I worked as a Teacher's Aide in 5-8 language arts and math classrooms, continually deepening my understanding of diverse student needs. I'm excited to offer tutoring in Language Arts for grades 38 and Math for grades K6.
My teaching philosophy centers on flexibility and building relationships. I understand that technology can sometimes fail or that students may have off days, so I believe it is important to pivot and adapt quickly to meet students where they are. Developing a trusting relationship by engaging students in conversations about their interests helps them feel comfortable and more willing to share and learn. This connection creates a supportive environment where students can thrive.
Outside of academia, I am a huge fan of HalloweenI love going all out to celebrate. My son and I enjoy visiting our amazing Zoo; it's our happy place. I also have a passion for photography, writing, and reading.
Helping students develop their skills and confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work, and I look forward to continuing to support and inspire learners on their academic journeys.
