I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a rising senior at Wake Forest University, where I am double majoring in Philosophy and Politics and International Affairs with a minor in Psychology. I am currently studying for the LSAT, as I intend to attend law school after my graduation from Wake Forest.

I have been tutoring students for about four years. I started tutoring in 2021, when I began working as an instructor at Mathnasium. There, I assisted mostly elementary- and middle school-aged students with their competency and comfort in their math studies. When I moved away to college, I began tutoring through Wake Forest's volunteer virtual tutoring program, where I tutor mostly middle school-aged students in Math and English. I absolutely love working with students, as it is so rewarding to see students grow and become more confident in their studies.

While I tutor both Math and English/Reading/Writing, my favorite subject to tutor is Math. A certain explanation for a given concept may not click for every student, so I love coming up with creative explanations for math concepts that may be a little easier for different learners to understand. My teaching philosophy is one of creativity and flexibility, as I have learned through experience that there is no one-size-fits-all approach that is guaranteed to work for every student.
