Michael: Lawrence tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where I earned dual degrees in Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics. From my early experience as a Peer Mentor in high school, I discovered a genuine passion for supporting others in their educational journeyespecially in math, a subject that can be both challenging and deeply rewarding.
Throughout college, I had the opportunity to serve as a Calculus II tutor, where I helped my peers gain a stronger understanding of the materialnot just to pass the course, but to truly grasp the underlying concepts. That experience further confirmed how meaningful it is to help students build confidence in their abilities.
While I'm comfortable tutoring a wide range of math subjects, I'm particularly passionate about K12 mathematics, including algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. I believe every student learns differently, so I aim to tailor my teaching to their unique learning stylebreaking down complex problems into digestible steps, reinforcing concepts with relevant examples, and making sure each student feels supported.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, working out, and never turn down a good pickleball match. I'm committed to making math less intimidating and more accessible for every student I work withand hopefully, even a little fun along the way.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying active and balanced in both mind and body. I’m an avid reader—especially of books that broaden my perspective or dive into topics like technology, leadership, and self-improvement. I also enjoy working out regularly and playing pickleball, which keeps me energized and competitive in a fun way. Spending quality time with family and friends is a top priority for me, and I also value giving back to my community whenever I can. As someone with a background in Computer Engineering and a growing interest in cybersecurity, I’m continually learning more about how technology shapes our world and how we can protect it.
