Certified Tutor

I am a student at Western Washington University studying marine science, with an emphasis on ecology. In my free time, I like to read, listen to every genre of music, and enjoy the outdoors. I tutor science, reading, writing, history, and math. My favorite of these subjects are science and history, because I think they often get neglected on traditional tutoring platforms. I am also a scientist and a history nerd, and I love sharing about my favorite subjects. My teaching philosophy is guiding not telling, and my tutoring style reflects this. I will never directly tell someone the answer because you don't learn that way. Instead, I use hints, guided questions, and leading phrases to help the student get there themselves, then I will go over it with them and make sure they understand how exactly we got there, and how to get there again next time. I have experience with online and in-person tutoring, including making my own lesson plans and customizing my plans for individuals and their needs. I have worked with math and reading students from pre-K to high school, AP English students, and high school and college science and history students.
