As someone who has received tutoring in the past, I feel especially passionate about tutoring because of the massive educational benefit it offers to students when done effectively. In my 4.5 years of teaching/educational instruction, I've had experience working with students between 6th grade up to the university level. I've earned three bachelor's degrees from the University of Arizona, which are Neuroscience with Honors, French Language, and Linguistics. Personally, my favorite subject to tutor is statistics because of the systematic processes of solving problems, but I also am able to tutor Algebra and French. When tutoring, I believe in the effectiveness of the Bloom's Taxonomy approach, where I first begin by identifying what the student knows and has a good understanding of, and then build up from there. Understanding what the student knows is important in order to know where to help them fill in the missing gaps to continue to let their knowledge grow. By identifying the student's strengths and weaknesses, I am able to better cater to their needs and help them become more proficient in the subject matter.
