My BA degree is in English Language and Literature, and I took many history and art courses, so my favorite subjects to tutor are creative, essay and content writing, Literature, and History. I actively write, and publish a weekly Substack newsletter, Glorious Ordinary, https://valeriespain.substack.com/
Besides being a freelance writer and editor for many years, I had a long career directing public health programs and used my communication skills, from public speaking to content writing. I mentored interns in writing resumes, emails and other business correspondence, so tutoring people in business writing is also something I offer.
I have always enjoyed working with young people from middle school through college. For four years I coached college students in a pilot program helping them develop mental wellbeing habits, like mindfulness, and other issues like time management, goal-setting and more.
I believe in working with the whole person. School, life and work are intertwined. If there's difficulty in one area there are probably difficulties in others, so I offer clients practices to help with stress, confusion etc.
