I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Amelia

Certified Tutor

I am currently studying French Studies at York University's Glendon Campus. I have a strong passion for the French language and I would love to teach that passion to others. I believe that understanding different languages will give you so many opportunities to travel, and to connect with others. During my gap year, I volunteered at an all french elementary school and helped out with a Grade 1/2 classroom, my love for teaching and languages only grew since then. I am optimistic and creative, I tend to think outside the box when teaching and I want to make the experience fun and joyful. I was also a barista trainer at Starbucks and I trained several people during my gap year, I've been complimented on my unique ways of teaching, one example would be that I made up songs to remember the build of a latte. In high school, I was extensively involved in my school and community through leadership programs like LINK Crew and PEAC (Partners in Education, Adventure, and Community) which is a specialized program at Twin Lakes High School that trains you on how to be a good leader. I am an extremely hard worker especially when it comes to teaching/tutoring, which is what I am very passionate about.

Hobbies

Other than languages I have an interest in music. I was a part of the Jazz and Senior band in high school as a clarinet player, I also enjoy singing as a hobby, and I discovered that interest through taking singing lessons during my gap year. I have a love for the outdoors, and I also love reading, writing and crocheting in my spare time.
