I am a recent graduate of Florida International University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, English Literature. I am a prospective Florida State University student and hope to study the M.A., English, Literature, Media, and Culture program once enrolled. I have been a substitute teacher for a year and have had the opportunity to develop my classroom management, lesson planning, and developmental skills with students. I have experience teaching students from all backgrounds with a focus on grades 5-9. I am passionate about education and actively use learning tools to empower students. By employing the use of games, interactive activities and an award system, students' progress rapidly and show eagerness to learn more. When teaching English, I often use texts, stories and draw students' attention to the real-life implications of literature and literary devices etc. My teaching philosophy is no "one size fits all" technique but starts with a willingness to nurture each students' strengths individually. My hope is to create clear objectives to improve competency, increase confidence and increase test scores.
