Certified Tutor

Hello! My name is Isabel, I am a bilingual Guatemalan-American woman. I recently became a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Arts. My focus was Media, Humanities and English Composition and Literature. My whole life I have had the privilege to have been exposed to different cultures and am a very tolerant and understanding person. I used to participate in volunteering campaigns with the non-profit organization HELPS International which allowed me to showcase my bilingual skills as a volunteer translator. My experience tutoring began shortly after my HELPS campaigns, through a tutoring "Buddy" program provided by my school.
I have tutored Language Arts, English Grammar, and English literature through essay corrections and one-on-one conferences. I can also tutor history and other humanities related courses. In my first year of college I commenced my online tutoring journey with the Amazing Talker platform and was able to provide English speaking lessons to many students worldwide; all of them of different ages; from elementary students to senior citizens. I was also able to train and have more tutoring skills; including standardized test training. I was then able to tutor a handful of students on their upcoming English Standardized exams like the TOEFL and IELTS exams.

My teaching philosophy revolves around understanding and caring for a student's needs. If a student feels comfortable and safe in an environment then they are on the right path to grow their skills by leaps and bounds. During my free time, I strive to be a kind person, and I love spending time with my family.
