Certified Tutor
I have always loved tutoring. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, physics, and computer science, but I really enjoy working with students of all ages in all subjects. I love it when I see the smile on other's faces when they finally understand the material and realize how fun learning is. I believe education is one of the most important gifts in life and that everybody should have the opportunity to be educated. One day, I hope to become a professor.
"The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows." -Sydney Harris

What is your teaching philosophy?
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." -Maimonides
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The first session is always the most important because that is when the student and tutor get to establish an understanding of each other’s way of learning and teaching. I will start off with viewing the student's learning materials and create a comfortable lesson plan/schedule that would be most appropriate and beneficial to the student's learning. Then I will have the student demonstrate to me what he/she already knows and what he/she wants to work on most.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
To be an independent learner, one must be able to first identify one's strength and weakness. I will help the student use his/her strength to an advantage and strengthen his/her weakness or find an alternate study method that will avoid those weaknesses. The key to being an independent learner is having great studying skills and methods.
