Certified Tutor
I received my Associates Degree Liberal Studies from the Legion of Christ College of Humanities in Cheshire, Connecticut and my Bachelors in Philosophy for Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy. Part of my college experience was the chance to study abroad for two years, first in Mexico, then in Italy. I love teaching because I've seen how my own studies have broadened my horizons in life and I would like to pass this opportunity on to others. I tutor various subjects but most of all I love teaching Spanish and Italian. Of course there is more to my life than teaching: in my free time I like to explore the mountains of Colorado, play sports with my friends, or just stay home and play guitar.

What is your teaching philosophy?
More than anything, I see teaching as a means of training students how to learn, how to ask the right questions and how to find the answers.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I like to get to know my students a little. This includes interests and hobbies, as well as most/least favorite subjects in school and what their personal goals or for the subject we'll be studying together are.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I like to encourage my students to find their own answers to questions instead of just giving them the answer.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I like to focus on the subjects that he or she is best at and really enjoys. If they are doing well in this, then the other school subjects can be seen in a better light.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I like to figure out how he or she learns best (visual, conceptual, etc.) and build on this.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I like to pinpoint the source of the difficulty and focus on this aspect of reading.
