We reviewed the new homework assignment for the student's Spanish class and then I helped him prepare for the final exam. We went through flashcards and did verb conjugation practice. I proctored his final exam for the last part of the session so he could finish his online Spanish course.

In this session, the student practiced determining an equation based on information given in a word problem. We discussed how to determine if the problem is looking for a maximum or minimum value, and how to get that value from the derivative of the equation. We also discussed how domain boundaries can change the max and min values of a function.

We reviewed systems of equations and solving systems of equations by graphic, as well as through substitution and elimination. We also discussed turning word problems into systems of equations, solving them, and interpreting solutions.

The student and I worked on dividing and multiplying fractions today. He said he gained a better confidence in working with division after our session - the area he was weakest.

Our session went very well. The student and I covered many topics, including logs and graphing polynomials functions. We covered other topics from her quiz tomorrow and the one from last week and she seemed to grasp all the concepts very quickly and well. We also handled shifts and asymptotes in functions and transformations.

The student and I wrapped up work on a final draft of his personal narrative today--it's come a very long way. We also started to shift our focus to physics work, which we will continue this week. As always, he was a pleasure to work with.
