I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Master of Arts in Education, emphasis on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Before that, I graduated from Mount Mary University with Bachelor of Arts in Business Education. While I worked in Business Education I found my true teaching passion. I met students who were immigrants to the U.S. and wanted to help them with their English proficiency. I have over 15 years' experience teaching English Language Learners. In the past few years I have worked with an online school to teach English to Russian speakers and I have several private students whom I teach on Skype. Many of the online students are working in the business field and want to improve their speech and writing to improve communication with other English speakers. I love to have conversations with them about their work and culture. In my face-to-face classes I have been teaching students with a beginning to intermediate level of English for 15 years. I enjoy teaching these levels and I love to help celebrate their happiness when they have improved their language skills. My students tell me I am very supportive and patient. I love to travel, and I was fortunate to spend 2 years working as an English teacher and business trainer in the Middle East. The experience of trying to learn the language of a different country has helped me to better understand the experience of my students. My philosophy of teaching is to use many different teaching methods to write lessons that are relevant to the students' personal experiences and goals. I am interested in travel, world cultures, world music, and current events. I never tire of teaching English language learners because I learn so much from them. I also love nature and nature walks, reading, and spending time with my family.
