I started my teaching career by tutoring students to work my way through school. I found that my wide variety of background experiences helped me make material understandable to many students. I have taught math, science, and pre-engineering to students at a variety of grade levels. While tutoring, I enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to make difficult material manageable for a student. Often, the tutoring experience helps me find better ways to explain concepts to my own students in class. My keys to tutoring involve getting to know a student so I can find ways to make the material relatable in a manner that makes sense to the student.

When I am not working with students, I coach a variety of sports. I coach basketball at my school. I also coach soccer outside of school. At night, I wind down playing a game. This could be a game on the computer or board game.
