With 20 years of tutoring experience, I can find a way to help most any student succeed. I earned a Bachelor's in General Studies from Emporia State University which was a self-programmed public relations degree. Over the years I have found myself conducting classes for preschoolers, corporate executives, and every skill level in between. But I have found the tutoring model of one-to-one instruction brings quicker results. I enjoy helping students achieve those "ah ha" moments when a concept clicks. Often that moment comes by relating a troubling concept to something the student enjoys. My diverse interests enable me to build rapport and relate assignments to real life. Encouraging students to clearly communicate through writing and verbally explaining material builds success in any academic area. Together we will succeed.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is somewhat eclectic but based on the classical method of building a foundation of fundamentals before connecting related ideas and having the student explain the material to me.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A first session would include fun interaction to find areas of strength and goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Independent learners are self-motivated. This motivation can be achieved with a combination of praise and rewards from a tutor, parent, mentor, teacher, or peer.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Setting achievable goals is highly motivating.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
When a concept is difficult, we will attack it from multiple learning modes and philosophical approaches.
