Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on his Finance Investments homework. Topics covered included: options, calls, puts, intrinsic value, in-the-money vs. out-of-money, time premium, market value, strike price, profit/loss, and the short-sell of stocks."
"We held an impromptu session over text and a phone call because they student needed help with an assignment that was past due. Specifically, we covered a few questions that were on the assignment and were giving the student some issues. Two of the questions revolved around margin accounts and how investors handle them. He already had a firm grasp buying stock on margin but needed confirmation. We also went over how margin calls are executed on short sales of derivatives."
"The student prepared an Excel schedule ahead of time so that we could focus on the concepts and calculations rather than data entry. This allowed for a very efficient session. The first few questions related to equity calculations finding return on equity and the equity multipliers. Several other questions required present value calculations with different types of data points. One used future value, a second used annual cash flows, and a final used a perpetuity cash flow. The last question required forecasting income and balance sheet statements to estimate external financing needs. The student and I then discussed our next sessions for scheduling and content to review."
