"We spent the first part of the session discussing a pre-calculus project involving quadratic functions and their graphical characteristics. The student understood the math behind the project, but she just needed the formulas necessary to complete the project. I showed her the formulas and when/how to use them, and from there, she was able to complete the project with little issue. We spent the next part preparing for a pre-calc midterm, which involved reviewing how to factor equations and identifying the equations for circles, ellipses, and hyperbolas. Once she felt confident, she took the test on her own (got a 94). We spent the rest of the session constructing her English paper and organizing her responses to her primary sources."
"We watched the student's videos on finding rational and imaginary roots of functions using the rational root test and synthetic division. He seemed to understand the material fairly well, but this material is tricky for many students, and we will continue to work through examples in our upcoming sessions to make sure he understands all of the concepts."
"We went over a review packet for the final, covering angle, quadrants, the unit circle, terminal side of an angle, inverse trigonometric functions, law of sines, and law of cosines. I forwarded some links to videos that might be helpful with regard to graphing sine, cosine, and tangent functions, as well as trigonometric questions involving directional bearings."
"We went over a variety of problems in preparation for the student's final exam. Some topics included logs, polynomials, and rate of change. He has the right idea behind most problems, so he just has to practice more. We will reconnect on Thursday and assess what he still has problems with."
"We went over angles with direction. This mostly involved word problems of the material we've been going over, but with one piece of new material. She fully understands what to do for these problems."
"We went over conics and hyperbolas. The student needed help completing his homework. We also briefly discussed a problem that involve a sequence. The student should understand how to find a and b given a vertex and single point."
