Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student and I reviewed conics and the equation of a circle in preparation for his exam. We went over the basics of the equation of a circle, and how it involves the center and radius of the circle. We worked on problems to solve for the midpoint and distance of a line with two given points. These concepts were used to develop the equation of a circle given that the described line is the diameter of a circle. We covered perfect square trinomials and learned how identifying this can help in transforming an non-simplified equation into an equation of a circle."
"Today in our session we completed the review from our last session concerning ratios. We also began another makeup assignment, focusing primarily on Pythagorean Theorem and right triangles. We also reviewed square roots, obtuse and acute triangles. Student has very good numeracy and does most of his math mentally without the use of his calculator. He stated that he has a pretty good understanding of the new concepts; we will polish them at our next session."
"Student and I went over more trigonometry: introduction to sine, cosine, tangent and their inverse functions. We were preparing for her quiz tomorrow. She definitely has a better handle of them and it'll take practice. We revisited proportional right triangles as I know that is specially challenging. I believe she will do great tomorrow."
"In our first meeting we reviewed all the theorems we could involving parallel lines. The student had a worksheet which we checked and we also did some problems in her textbook. Once we reviewed all the terms, she quickly understood how to do the problems."
"We talked about special quadrilaterals and triangles. We worked problems in identifying and drawing these shapes and their qualities. The student is getting better with his notation and he seems to understand concepts easier."
"The student and I worked on her new chapter. We did proofs for congruent triangles. She did a great job identifying postulates and other rules."
