Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on topics for an upcoming essay, as well as finished homework for various classes. The student also began preparing for upcoming world history test."
"We edited the student's first writing paper of the semester, which was about Jean Kilbourne's essay about "advertorials." She is off to a good start. She wrote a good, concise essay."
"For this session, I went over Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck) with the student. We went through questions for each chapter that he has covered thus far (1 & 2). I also review his revised expository essay, with changes made. Also, we began an outline for his project on summer reading. The session was very productive and went well. For homework, I left the student with topics for other expository essays to work on (if time permitting)."
"We continued to read Harry Potter to build vocabulary, usage, and pronunciation. We also spent 20 minutes using conversational English before and after reading. The student's accent has noticeably improved since we began working last summer. She continues to note and write down new vocabulary and seems to remember new words from session to session."
"We continued to work on sight words with ow, ou, at, oo, and ag, sounds. We worked on both three and four letter words. The student is starting to be able to say the words that rhyme without sounding them out. He needs to continue to work on his sight words."
"We continued to work with the past tense with speaking and grammar exercises. I introduced the past continuous tense, and we did grammar and conversational exercises that contained both the simple past and past continuous tenses. Since the student has been memorizing the irregular past tense verbs, she was able to complete the exercises. I left her with a reading passage that contains a majority of these grammar tenses. She is looking forward to reading it and answering the comprehension questions independently."
