Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During today's session, the student and I worked together to complete a Winter packet assigned by the teacher. The packet consisted of problems on inequalities, percentages, proportions, and solving equations for a given variable."
"We worked on the student's homework assignment, which he handled with relative ease. He said that he got the highest grade in the class on the last exam! I'm hoping this will be a big confidence booster for him in algebra, and that his test performance will continue to improve."
"We focused our session on the topics of slope-intercept form, point-slope form, and standard form of equations. These were the topics that were recommended by the teacher to focus on to review for his upcoming test. We did many practice problems. We also went through a strategy for working word problems. Overall he is doing well and with more practice it will become easier for him."
"The student and I completed sections 10.1-10.3 on her online account, which represented her last homework assignment of the year. Although she earned a 100% on all three assignments, sadly, her overall homework score fell just shy of an "A" (89%). She had some trouble with last week's assignment, though she did not realize how difficult it would be until it was too late to contact me about tutoring (she never tried contacting me). Nevertheless, she is in line to earn an "A" if she does well on her last exam on Wednesday and on the final next Monday. She learns so quickly that we should have no problem prepping her for the exam during our next session on Tuesday. I anticipate she will earn an "A" on the next test, given the comprehension she demonstrated during our session today. She is learning to think "big picture" at the outset of her problems. She's a trooper and will continue to put in the necessary effort to do well on her upcoming test."
"Today the student did not have math work from school because they are not covering any new material. I started going over general geometry concepts with her like angle measurements when a line bisects to parallel lines. She has a science test tomorrow so we worked on her review sheet which covered material from the entire year. She did well and knew a lot of the answers (or had a general sense of them) before having to look anything up. We then worked on her power point for her presentation on Ukraine. She already had her paper written so it was just a matter of highlighting key points on her slides to help her and her partner when they present on Thursday. She was very productive. It was a great session."
"The student and I worked on grammar rules since she just had tests and didn't have much homework from school. We focused on: subject/verb agreement, pronoun case, pronoun consistency, pronoun clarity, object agreement, and compound objects. I started with easier problems for each skill and then worked up to advanced problems as she became familiar and comfortable. We built up a good foundation this way and she said it was helpful review. Good session!"
