Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on adding and subtracting large numbers. He understands the math and can even do some problems in his head. We also worked on his states, state capitals, and spelling."
"We had more ISEE math prep for the student, yesterday. She's mastered fractions, percents, and decimals at this point, which is great. Next, will be a brief review of the basic algebra that we've talked about (and more vocabulary work, of course) as we built up in preparation for the full-length practice in May!"
"The student worked 3 pages in his math workbook. He covered 10-1 and 10-2 over multiplication, telling time, and volumes of boxes. He needs to work more on the partial product method for multiplication."
"Today the student and I covered chapter 4, which was a bit confusing for him at first. However, by the end of the session he had quite a firm grasp of sequences and how they relate to linear and exponential functions. We briefly began chapter 5. I hope that we are able to cover all of chapter 5 during our next session so that he is prepared for his chapter 5 test."
"I discussed what both the student and his dad considered to be the student's needs. I was given email addresses of his teachers. I read some with him on the fifth grade level for quick assessment. We discussed use of website built by me. I introduced a brain break due to the specified concentration/ focus difficulties."
"We did two practice sections and timed it to see the result. We also located the worst points and the best point to work on them next class. I left the student with a full practice test and I hope to go over it next time. I also hope to teach her the calculator tricks."
