Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed fauvism, analytic cubism, and synthetic cubism. We discussed selected works in relation to their art historical and cultural contexts. We also spent a good amount of time understanding cubism in relation to Charles S. Peirce's semiotic theory. Additionally, we went over the difference between the grid and figure and ground."
"In today's lesson we reviewed some terms from the New Deal and then discussed the Cold War. We reviewed the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan, the policy of containment, the Chinese Civil War and the Korean War. We then discussed the Eisenhower administration, brinksmanship, the Suez Crisis, the post-Stalinist thaw in the Soviet Union, the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, the U-2 incident, the construction of the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Kennedy's assassination. We also talked about the Red Scare of the late 1940's/early 1950's, McCarthyism and the construction of bomb shelters and the Interstate Highway System. I also had the student answer some questions from the A.P. U.S. History book."
"The student has an essay exam next week and I had created notes on 4 questions that would most likely be on the exam. The session was spent explaining how she would answer any of these questions. She has completed reading her text and our sessions from now on will most likely be to prepare her for the placement exam scheduled for May 13."
