Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"On Friday morning we worked on getting the second to last page of the math packet done. I read the two English passages out loud, and the student and I decided the first passage seemed easier to discuss. We then talked about what the passage meant, and he created an outline for his essay."
"The student worked on a take-home exam covering problems in integration, differential equations, probability, and partial derivatives. He had a fairly good understanding of how to work these problems."
"The student continued preparation for this final exam, focusing on polynomial operations, inverse functions, composite functions, power law and exponential change, and solving equations with exponents and logarithms (the most challenging part for him). We will continue next week."
"We reviewed for the student's final, covering solving multivariable equations using substitution and addition, solving word problems using math logic, and solving logarithms without a calculator. The student was engaged and willing to learn. Obviously he was anxious about doing well on his finals, but I'm sure he'll do fine."
"We covered different subjects including imaginary numbers, quadratics, some statistics, and probability. The student was unsure if she was doing the problems correctly, so we needed to cover the concepts behind imaginary numbers. We went through her homework and practice test material, and I also provided some other examples she could use. The session went well, and I think she has more confidence in her ability to solve future problems."
"We reviewed the math section together using the diagnostic tests. He only got four questions wrong. We then practiced a verbal section and he got all of the questions correct! We reviewed any words he did not know and practiced them upon completion. Finally, we read middle school-appropriate passages and worked on reading comprehension. Out of 20 questions for three passages, he only got 4 wrong. He was extremely interested tonight and seemed to enjoy the material!"
