Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, periodic and simple harmonic motion (springs/pendulums) were reviewed by completing conceptual and regular textbook problems. Gravitational force and Kepler's laws were also reviewed by discussing an already completed study packet."
"Today the student and I worked many problems involving acid base equilibrium and concepts. She also took a quiz covering new and review material. She is struggling with the practice problems and with the laboratory. So the next session will focus on helping her write the report the way the assistant is requiring. She has a positive attitude although she is a little overwhelmed by her workload this semester and seems glad to have help."
"Worked on pH calculations for buffered solutions, titration curves, how to experimentally determine equivalence point, half equivalence point, pKa from titration curve graph, and what species exist in solution at different points in a titration curve."
"The student and I spent most of the session talking about the importance of sexual vs. asexual reproduction with regards to genetic diversity and survival. Before we meet on Wednesday, he is to review the terms genetically identical, genetic diversity, genetic variation, genotype, and phenotype."
"The student has a final tomorrow for his Biology class, and in this session, we reviewed the PowerPoint slides that he will be tested over. The topics included cancer, viruses and genetic modifications among others. He enjoys learning about Biology subjects and is always interested in the material. After a review or two, he seems on his way to being well prepared for his exam tomorrow. I have asked him to let me know of any questions he might have before his exam."
"The student has a test on Friday about biomolecules. She had a bunch of study materials from her teacher as well as the unit outline with all the content she is responsible for. We spent the session with me testing her on concepts. As we encountered information that she clearly wasn't 100% sure about, I had us stop for some re-teaching and clarification of the details. She had a good handle on most of the material and was planning to make flashcards for studying the day before the test. She also let me know that she received a B for the first term of the year, and we both agreed that we were going to aim for better by working hard on reviewing for tests and making sure she masters all the content from her class."
