Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed pronouns first since she had just had a quiz on them. We then went on to complete her homework assignment, translating a short script from English to French. With our remaining, time we began reviewing the conditional and future tenses."
"The student had requested an extra session. He was eager to get a jump start on the next topic that he will be covering in his French class after break. We had another great lesson. He is very attentive, he has great recall of information, and he is willing to take risks. He knows his faults when it comes to studying and we discussed ways in which he could improve. This next section that he will be working on in class will require much memorization. I felt that it was a very successful lesson."
"We covered the Unit 3 test today. We reviewed past tense using 'etre' and 'avoir'. We studied -er verbs with changes. We also studied the partitive and quantities. I noticed the grades for these sections was near 70%. In some cases the information had to be explained. We will work to study verb form at the back of the textbook both in the Present and the Past."
"I assigned a short writing piece for both students, which they did not complete, so we began working through a dialogue from one of my books which covered their vocab (medical). We worked on speaking fluency and pronunciation. I explained what I expect for the written dialogue for next time. I then worked with one student on world history."
"Saturday, the student and I worked on interrogative pronouns completing 3 activities from the book and an activity from the workbook. The student showed a good understanding of when to use "Qu'est-ce que" and when to use "Qu'est-ce qui." He explained in his own words the grammar concept behind both and had no difficulty completing the activities. We moved onto pronouns in the imperative in which I explained when affirmatively commanding someone, the subject pronoun will follow verb, while when it is negative it will precede the verb. The student did not have trouble understanding and when I asked if he had any difficulty or needed any clarification he stated he understood and did not need any clarification."
"For this session, the student and I reviewed his schedule and discussed his upcoming projects for the week. We started with French, and reviewed the unit material before focusing on other topics. This week, he has a test in biology, and he expressed some concerns about note-taking and studying, so I helped him to take notes and to review the material. I showed him how to effectively review a chapter and to take notes that will better help him study. After helping him to take notes, we completed a number of study quizzes and reviewed any previous assessments that he had already taken on this chapter."
