Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent most of the tutoring time outlining her five paragraph essay. We discussed and came up with the thesis statement, topic sentences for each paragraph and finished our first three paragraphs. At the end, we played another multiplication game to practice her facts."
"Researched volunteers who have made a difference in history for her speech project Answered basic questions about the volunteer that would give her the information necessary to start writing the speech."
"Today we reviewed the linear equations the student solved for homework and figured out why he got the few wrong that he got wrong. He did very well with the problems. We then spent most of the time working on functions. We discussed what functions are, domain, range, and occasions you might want to restrict the domain. We discussed the vertical line test and graphing functions."
"We went over the ACT basics but focused on the math section. The student hasn't taken trig, and will need a crash course, but first, he needs a bit of work on his math fundamentals. I'm making him an equation review sheet, because learning all the formulas is going to be crucial to his success on this test. He is very smart."
"The student and I met today and finished the material in Chapter 1, reviewing old vocabulary and some new terms as well. We continued learning the "futur proche" and learned how to express other actions that involve two verbs. To practice this material, we used exercises in the textbook and workbook. Next week, we will begin Chapter 3!"
"The student and I went over a review sheet that she was using to prepare for her exam on Tuesday. It was a very helpful session, and we managed to get through all 70 questions, covering topics ranging from perfect competition and monopolies to cost and product curves. She seems exceptionally well prepared for her test and asked insightful questions throughout the session. I have full confidence that she will do very well on her Tuesday exam. We considered some strategies to work through some complicated theory questions, particularly how to remember the relationships between marginal product and marginal cost curves. I am looking for some diagrams to send over to her today or tomorrow that will give a helpful visual explanation of the concepts. All in all, we had a very productive and enjoyable session."
