Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on the Reading Comprehension questions to get her used to the test format and returned to the Logical Reasoning questions that had been introduced at the end of our first lesson. The student did a phenomenal job on the Reading, and really got a knack for what the prep test is looking for. Logical Reasoning was a little more difficult, but she is making good progress in that are too, and we will dive back into math next session."
"In today's session, we continued with chapter 8 of the text, which covers reactions for alkenes. We went over the mechanisms for halogenation, hydroboration, reduction, epoxide formation, and 1,2 diol additions. Tomorrow we will review for the upcoming test on Wednesday."
"Looked at the progress report card so far and where we need to improve. Ensured that we turned in every assignment as due, encouraging her to participate in class more often. Completed an old assignment hoping to get credit about possessive adjectives. Began chapter 8, focusing on health terminology Learned 5 new adjectives and the four possible ways they can be written Learned 2 new verbs (toser/estornudar)."
"The student and I worked through Chapter 12.1 material on one and two-sample t-tests and confidence intervals using sample mean data. He has a test next week so we will meet once more on Tuesday, go through more problems and review all of the material for his test. He was very confident working through the material and I think he will do great on the test."
"Chapter 11 (Infinite Sequences and Series): Discussed topics of Representation of Functions as Power Series and Taylor and Maclaurin Series. Outside of describing how to translate series into representations of power series and finding interval of convergence, I helped the student understand the necessity of these series in real-world applications such as astrophysics and fluid dynamics in non-conforming shapes. Also, I described an easier way to calculate integrals of polynomials when performing a calculation."
"Today, the student and I continued work on her ICS 32 Project 5, with renewed knowledge of how to conquer the task. We designed the start page gui using a series of tkinter radio buttons, canvas text elements, and regular buttons. She is progressing incredibly well, with a deep understanding of the content and, as always, excellent eyesight for problems in the code. We meet tomorrow to continue working and hopefully get this project nearly done!"
