Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked through her homework assignment. Topics covered included probability distribution and the use of at most and at least."
"The student worked from Chapters 18 through 20 today, with a focus on the use of the normal approximation for probability estimation. Tomorrow, we will discuss any questions about the material in Chapters 16, 17, 18, and 20, then move on to study Chapters 21 and 32."
"We went over calculating z-scores and t-scores, and using them for confidence intervals as well as calculating probabilities. After going over two lectures of this material, we began to cover hypothesis testing and how to use the similar z-scores and t-scores for decision making in rejecting or failing to reject hypotheses."
"The student and I spent most of our time going over augmented matrices and determinants. Towards the end, we went over graphing quadratic functions. He seemed to have a good grasp of the material."
"We worked on vectors and physics today. The vectors lesson was easy today because the student knows this material from physics class so for the Math version of vectors we merely had to review a few minor concepts like how to find unit vectors, and dot product notation. The Physics part was a bit harder than the Math because it involved an extra credit problem in which the acceleration of a particle on a planet depended on both gravity and charge. It took the student about 30 minutes to figure out the problem and make the connections between force due to electric charges, electric field, and electric potential. He also mentioned he got a 98 in his last Math exam that involved complex numbers. I'm looking forward to keeping the student motivated for the rest of the year."
"During this session, the basics of trigonometry were reviewed using a class-given packet. The student had some issues learning the material, but was able to overcome them and grasp the basics by the end of the session."
