Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Since today was the last day I would see her before the exam, I let her lead the session by asking me to review with her anything she felt unprepared for. We revisited previous packets we had completed to review the topics she had reservations about. This included deriving equations from graphs and determining solutions of multiple equations on one graph. I believe that throughout our sessions she has developed a stronger foundation in algebraic math that she can utilize for the future. She is a promising learner, and it has been a privilege watching her grow as a math student."
"We worked on graphing of logs and exponentials and quadratics using transformations, patterns and tables. The student had forgotten some of the basics surrounding logs, but she seemed to get it down pretty quickly. She mostly did well! We reviewed multiple strategies for each type of graph. I asked her to do some word problems from the packets I gave her."
"We worked on general strategies for test taking such as reading the question before reading word problems to better know what one should look for. We also looked at some harder math problems at the end which the student knocked out quite easily. It was a great session, and the student is definitely getting faster and better at the multiple choice problems."
"Today the student and I continued to review factoring and distributing polynomials. She shared with me that she may have one last quiz before the end of the school year, so we decided on meeting for one more session to review again next week."
"This was our first meeting after his new school adjustment. He seems more confident in the subject matter since the school change, and though there are some issues with fractions and whether a solution is positive or negative after being multiplied, he has picked up speed and seems to have a good process to solve polynomial equations."
"The student spent most of the session working on an assignment packet from her math class. The assignment concerned statistical concepts. She was easily able to find the mean and range for sets of numbers. She understands median and quartiles. She needed help in finding unknown numbers when the mean was given. We went over it several times. I assigned for her to study our solutions to these problems in the hope that it will become more clear. We finished the session reviewing vocabulary that she has been working with for some time, as she is having a quiz on them."
