"We went over graphing square root functions. She graphed square root functions after solving for the domain and range of the said functions. She also learned how to find the correct graph of an inequality with square root functions. Then, I showed her examples of finding composite functions. It was confusing at first, but she got the concept after a couple of problems. I will be giving her a short timed quiz at the beginning of our sessions to help her adjust to taking timed tests."
"The student had a math packet to finish for the summer. This was a review of the concepts she'd learned in algebra 2 to prepare her for the coming year. We finished the packet in its entirety. She will review it once more before school starts again."
"The student has her final next Wednesday and has a review packet that the class worked on. Although the answers were circled, there was no work shown, so we went through every question to make sure she understands how to solve them. Although the class is pre-algebra, the review packet was almost entirely plane and coordinate geometry. She is making flashcards to study the formulas for volume of a sphere, volume of a cone, volume of a cylinder, volume of a rectangular solid, and the squares of all numbers from 1-12. She remembers working with scatter plots, and handled those questions well."
"The student is working on problems that combine two recent topics, rates and volumes. She is definitely more fluent with the calculations than she was just a couple months ago. As always, practice will help her grow even more."
"The student and I covered parabolic translations and transformations as well as domain and range. He seemed to be grasping the translations, but needed help understanding the concepts of domain and range. He did well identifying foci and vertices because we had practiced them for the past few sessions. I went back to the domain and range concepts, and he understood them by the end of the session."
"During our session, we covered graphing trigonometric functions. We began with graphing sine and cosine functions and learning how these functions can be modified. We then covered graphing tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant functions. She did quite well with the material. There was a lot of new material presented in the chapter that she must memorize for the tests and quizzes. However, I'm confident that once these formulas and procedures are memorized, she should do well on any assessments."
