Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had yet another worksheet on radicals and polynomials. I was very pleased to see that he was at least as comfortable working with variables as he was with numbers. We talked about why recognizing that they have the same rules is so important."
"We reviewed exponents, negative exponents, plugging in answer choices if you cannot set up an equation, distance/rate/time problems, acid solution problems, and word problems. The student had a great attitude."
"This was another review of factoring quadratic equations. The student's main challenge was with starting a problem. However, once she continues a problem, she is able to finish a problem with relative ease. Her teacher had already given her several practice worksheets. She tells me that her testing has been going well lately."
"The student and I worked only on science today. We talked about the function of a eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell and what are the similarities and differences between both. We also talked about function and structure and how they correlate."
"We went over benchmark 17 today--discussed exponential growth and decay. The student picked up the concepts well (he is getting noticeably more confident) and we moved through the benchmark quickly."
"During our session today we prepared for the student's algebra final. He did well on the recent material, but some of the stuff from earlier in the year gave him trouble, specifically solving systems of equations. Once he was keyed into what type of problem he was dealing with, he did fine. In the coming weeks, I want to work with him on problem identification."
