Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on assignment 1D, which he emailed me prior to the class. For most of the session, we worked on problem number 6, which covered currency exchange cross-rates. I used the document editor to show my calculations and then compared notes with him as he solved the problems on his own. We didn't come to the same conclusion on the first problem. I set up the problem in basic algebraic form that allows the student to set currencies equal to each other. Understanding it in its basic algebraic form is key. We ended the session by answering questions about the Swiss National Banks. We briefly discussed why someone would buy a negative yield bond."
"We reviewed a worksheet that the student completed this weekend. The material included public goods, externalities, income distribution, and anti-trust legislation. She had a good grasp on most of the material, and we did some extra review on externalities. After I provided a few examples and drew some accompanying graphs, she was much more comfortable with the material."
"Today we went over chapter 4, the adjusting entries chapter. The student was initially struggling with some basic accounting concepts, such as the difference between accrued accounts and deferred accounts. But we reviewed the material, and the student learned fast. I provided tips to distinguish certain concepts and encouraged the student to read the questions in more detail to avoid unnecessary mistakes."
