"The student is working on the properties quadrilaterals. She had been absent the day the class went over parallelograms, and needed some help going through the proofs in that section. A lot of it was helping her recognize how and when to use the theorems about parallel lines being cut by a transversal. Several proofs also used congruent triangles, and a couple times she needed help recognizing which two triangles to prove congruent in order to be able to prove the theorem about parallelograms that she was trying to prove. I was super impressed that she figured one proof out before I did! She is getting better at proofs all the time. We also went through a construction that she had not understood in class for constructing an isosceles trapezoid given the perimeter."
"The student's class has started covering trigonometric ratios and solving for 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles. He has a good understanding of the theorems for right triangles but sometimes gets mixed up with values presented in word problems. When sides and angles from word problems are drawn out, that seems to help him work through the problem better. This session also seemed to help him with better understanding trigonometric ratios and how they can be used to solve for missing sides and angles. He worked through a couple practice problems, which seemed to help and it looks like he has a solid understanding of the current material."
"We focused on the new sections she hadn't learned, including rhombi, squares, trapezoids, and coordinate proofs. She's doing great writing out everything clearly when doing algebra even if she thinks she can do it in her head. The session went well."
"The student reviewed and worked on homework that covered quadrilaterals, in particular parallelograms, rectangles, rhombuses, squares, kites and trapezoids. She worked on solving for various parts of the parallelograms as well as working on proofs of various characteristics of rhombuses or squares."
"We went over similarity in right triangles, solving for unknowns using equations from geometric theorems. The student is picking up the material very quickly and is solving problems easily."
