Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through her homework assignment. Topics covered included more work with hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and the use of a graphing calculator to solve these problems."
"We worked on more Unit Review assignment problems. Today's topics included Chi Squared distributions, testing for independence of factors, and analysis of ANOVA tables. The student is now confident calculating Chi Squared values, and seems to better understand how to analyze data using the ANOVA table. Hopefully it will show when he takes his exam on Friday."
"Decision trees: generating and calculating probabilities along decision tree branches. Use of the program to build decision tree calculator."
"The student reported learning equivalent ratios today, which are similar to fractions. He reported that he did not receive his midterm grade yet. He completed a practice and problem-solving sheet, which he understood well. He completed skill sheet #15, which consisted of subtracting fractions, division of whole numbers, prime factorization, subtracting times, finding what is the better rate, dividing fractions, multiplication involving money and word problems on equivalent ratios/fractions. At the end of the session, he asked to solve some addition and subtraction fraction problems."
"Continued working on solving systems of equations. Did mostly elimination type problems today, ranging from simple problems where you just add the equations to those where you have to manipulate one or both equations. Also did several problems practicing substitution for review. He did a good job as usual."
"We focused on the properties of similar triangles, right triangles, area, and related algebra. The student was struggling the relation of sides within similar triangles. He was working hard and gradually building up some concepts to start solving questions. I suggested reading the textbook one page per weekday and two pages per weekend day."
