Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, the student reviewed her math work on Lessons 51-52. She corrected any mistakes and began working on Lesson 53. She completed a page of handwriting for the letter f as well. She did a great job today."
"I checked all the work she completed as homework, reviewed how to read decimals, how to divide decimals, and went through rounding, as the word problems I had assigned asked to round to the final answer to a specific place."
"I had both students take a diagnostic placement test that went over several grade levels today. It helped me to identify some gaps in knowledge at a lower level. I noticed for Student A that we need to work on addition and subtraction with four or more numbers and subtraction with regrouping. He also needs to work on multiplication and working with precision. We talked about Student B maybe switching her phone to military time to see if that would help with telling time, and we will spend about 3 or 4 minutes talking about it each session, but not harping on it. I also want to work with the kids on other methods of solving problems other than the traditional method. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow in their math skills and language skills over the next few months!"
"I helped the student to finish her math class. We worked on a variety of math skills. She has come a long way. She is applying the concepts she has learned and paying more attention to details. She is ready for the next math class."
"I taught the student very basic math like addition using carry-over, subtraction using borrowing, multiplication and division. She was very nervous at first but she was good to go with the rudimentary stuff by the time we ended. She was extremely open to learning, and if she didn't understand something, she was not embarrassed to tell me."
"I worked with the first student on inequalities on word problems with the inequalities for an upcoming assessment. She has a good grasp of what to do, but has some confusion when she doesn't think the problem through. She remains positive and optimistic though and I am confident she will do well. The second student was focused on definitions, and I reviewed his understanding of each of the subgroups that he needs to classify numbers into as a part of his assessment."
