Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation. I worked with the student on materials provided by her mother. Specifically, we worked on an assignment that allowed her to find omitted words from a sentence and then add those words in. We then worked on reading and comprehension. She definitely excelled with reading and comprehension. She was able to rapidly identify synonyms for words presented in the story. I would like to focus more in the coming sessions on her pronunciation and understanding of more complex words."
"The student and I reviewed all of her material, but in the context of reading. I had her read several sentences that used multiple chunks and a few digraphs. We also worked on rhyming, since sometimes she struggles with knowing which chunk belongs in which word."
"We keep practicing pronunciation of clusters of sounds such as tr and str. We worked on saying correctly the words pertaining to the logistics industry and we practiced talking with correct pronunciation."
"We covered sight words-pre K. We are working on fluency and sounding out the words if the student doesn't know it. We also worked on math, adding and counting to 100. We then worked on writing and fine motor skills, writing letters, and how to properly hold a pencil. The student then completed his homework and reading for the day."
"During this session, we worked on vowel combinations: au, ai, ay, er, ir, ur, ar, or. We then continued to practice sight words. The student is memorizing many sight words that are spelled irregularly. We also reviewed syllable blends of 2-3 syllable words. The student is showing progress. He is a hardworking student who always tries his best and stays engaged and focused. He is enthusiastic about learning new words and being able to read out of the work book."
"The student is using a very helpful strategy in writing papers for her classes. She takes the questions and points from the assignments and puts them into a google doc in a color. Then, she begins formulating answers to the questions so that after she has the basic outline done, she is able to take the ideas and turn them into a final paper. It's working well for her, and she is writing clear papers very efficiently."
