Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed some of the algebra and trigonometry materials from previous sessions. We also got into limits and basic properties of limits. The student was able to quickly pick up the new material, now it's just a matter of applying all the algebra and trig to all the calculus! I will send him practice problems later this week as he reviews the material we covered."
"The student and I studied functions, graphing function, composing functions, and the domain of functions. We reviewed homework problems and previewed what the professor will be going over in class next week. The lesson went smoothly, so she seems prepared to start building on this strong foundation."
"Today we were working on convergence tests for sequences and series, covering the p-test, ratio test, absolute series test, and the direct comparison. It was a very introductory session, and we will get more involved with the subject matter in the weeks to come. We also went over y strength chart, and how to use it as a rule of thumb to casually evaluate limits to make proving them easier, it is easier to prove a limit when you already know the answer."
"The student and I had our first tutoring session and it went very well. He is working on limits and continuity right now. I was impressed with his math skills. He caught on to every topic we covered quickly. He can do basic math in his head quickly and has a good grasp of math basics. I think he will continue to do well in his class at this rate."
"Today, we covered integration using u-substitution. We did this with problems involving natural logarithms and trigonometric functions. The student was very positive. I will have her complete some problems online, and I will compile some links to explanations of topics on her homework such as integration by parts that she can reference when completing her homework that is due on the third."
"We finished going over the last of the assessment problems, including more related rates questions. We then reviewed trigonometry and the unit circle. We then continued with integration techniques, spending more time on integration by parts and the instances when this technique can be utilized. I gave him extra integration by parts questions to do before our next session. He was focused during the session and asked me questions if he had them."
