Reviewed the student's old quizzes and tests. Although she does well on the homework, she sometimes blanks on the tests, because the problems are more challenging or she feels the time pressure. Together we solved the problems she struggled with, and she seemed to have a strong understanding of all the concepts. I think she is starting to gain confidence from our tutoring sessions, and I see her not second-guessing herself as often. I told her to always try the most challenging problems from the textbook, even if they weren't assigned, and to carefully review her notes for all proofs/derivations that might appear on future tests. Introduced her to polar coordinates, which is the topic of the next chapter.

The student and worked on equations and graphs of circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas. She has great intuitions of how each shape fits it's equation and how to apply transformations. This coming chapter should prove to be a great opportunity to get an A and boost her overall grade.

Today we reviewed what sine, cosine, and tangent are. We extended these concepts to situations that do not include the length of one side that would otherwise define the trig function. I noticed that the student was having some issues solving equations of the form ax + b = c and reviewed this with him. He was able to do the problems that showed up later in the packet.

During this session we focused Trigonometry. We started by going over the student's previous exam. He knows how to do the problems however due to the constraint of time he rushed through the problems and missed some things and didn't get the chance to do the part 2 questions. I advised him to continue studying the identities and to write them all on one sheet. The second half of this session we focused on the topics to be tested on his Wednesday exam. We did a few practice problems and the student seems to have a good grasp on the concepts he just needs to do more practice problems before the exam so he gets more comfortable. Overall this session went well.

We covered simplifying trigonometric functions, which included numerous trigonometric identities. We also looked at how to shift the graphs of sine and cosine. Finally, we reviewed her statistics test and corrected the answers that she got wrong. I believe that the student is comfortable with simplification now, and is more comfortable with graphing.

Continued to discuss topics on sequences and finding patterns. Some of the progress I saw was the student's preparation for the session by asking my concise questions. Our next session will be focused on her trig-final and we agreed that the student would have all required study material for the next meeting.
