Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, the student worked on addition magic squares, sight words, and counting nickels. He struggled some with the addition, but finished all 6 magic squares correctly. Some of the sight words seemed harder for him today, although he tried very hard. We read a book about eating veggies and he answered all of the comprehension questions correctly."
"We went over properties of power and operations of polynomials and worked mostly on the student's addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I have made him write down some methods while working on a sum and had him make some notes so that he can look back at those rules and solve a problem. I have asked him to through it everyday so that he can be 100% positive next time we have a session. Hopefully, this would make his base stronger. I am very happy that he has started asking me questions. I am sure that's the reason he understood a lot of things and concepts in his head today, because he will have a reason behind every move he makes in a problem solving activity."
"We went over the Quantitative and Verbal section today. We went over some geometry questions involving circles and squares. The student did those problems very slowly. She takes a lot of time processing the information given in the question, and then applying the geometric formulas like area of a circle into the problems. She needs to practice those types of questions more. Then, we did some Verbal questions. We did some logic problems, and she was very good at that. She is improving in vocabulary as well."
"The student and I analyzed the final two calculator problems from the 2R, 3R, and 4R and discussed their similarities and important strategies for attacking the problems. We also went over the calculator section of the 2R questions 21-30, focusing on how to approach a tough problem when you get stuck. We also went over circle equations and completing the square. Thursday, we will go over some geometry and continue looking at the 3R."
"The student completed a multiplication wheel page, which had 48 math problems on it. These were a great way to get him to practice without knowing how many problems were on the page. He enjoyed the race to the moon and multiplication squares, which still assists with him getting the facts in his head."
"Today we mainly talked about general strategies for preparing for law school, writing memos, prepping for finals, and writing essays for finals. I supplied some practice questions in contracts we will go over another time."
