Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on more chemistry problem revisions. We looked at a variety of topics from throughout the course clarifying topics that might be a bit hazy. A lot of the topics had to do with conversion between mass-mass or mole-mole using stoichiometry and the molar mass."
"The student and I began by reviewing everything we had done the previous week, from converting fractions to decimals to fraction word problems. She struggled a little with those, so I plan on having her do more of them next week. We also began working on reducing fractions."
"The past two session have been really well. She quickly finishes her homework by recognizing the pattern to solve similar problems using the notes from the class. Currently, she is learning how to find the surface area of 3 dimensional figures. I notice that she, like most students, tries to memorize the formula to find the area and sometimes gets overwhelmed when she sees an odd figure such as trapezoidal prism. My advice to this problem is that surface are of a prism is just the sum of all sides. If she doesn't recall the formula or sees unfamiliar shapes, she should find areas of all sides separately and simply add them together."
"We went over the student's review packet for her test next week. She can do the problems; however, she still needs to memorize all the equations and properties. As long as she memorizes these, it will help her get ready for her exam. Her understanding of probability is very good."
"Today, we cover an Algebra unit in linear equations. The student did not struggle with any of the concepts and was very meticulous about solving each problem. She started the problem out by first writing the equation needed, and then she showed all of her steps leading up to the solution . She showed me some of her past quizzes and review guides and showed me the concepts she did not understand. She will get her final review packet tomorrow, and we will go over it next Thursday."
"Went over review packet for his finals. I let him know what material he should study prior to our next session so that we could cover the concepts for him to do well on the final."
